Who we are
This policy describes how File Secure Transfer (filesecuretransfer.com) handles information when you send or receive a text message or files. There are no accounts. You do not sign up, and we do not ask for your name or email address.
Information we process
- Content you send. Files you upload, and any optional text message, are stored only so the recipient can retrieve them with the 6-digit code.
- Optional password. If you set a password, it is used to encrypt the ZIP. It is kept with that transfer until the transfer is deleted. It is not an account password.
- Transfer details. We store the code, file name, size, creation time, expiration time, and whether the transfer was retrieved.
- IP address. Your IP address and the date are stored with a daily upload count so we can limit how many transfers one address can create.
- Technical logs. The server may record timestamps, errors, and request details needed to run and protect the service.
How long we keep it
- A transfer that nobody retrieves is deleted about 10 minutes after it is created.
- Files are deleted as soon as the download finishes. If a download does not finish, they are removed immediately.
- A text-only message is deleted when the recipient enters the code.
- Daily upload-count records, including the IP address, are deleted after 7 days.
- Leftover files and transfer records are removed when the service restarts.
We do not keep a permanent library of your files or messages.
Cookies
The site sets one essential session cookie so forms can be protected against cross-site request forgery. It is not used for advertising or analytics. The site does not use tracking cookies.
Pages load the Press Start 2P typeface from Google Fonts. Your browser contacts Google to fetch that font, and Google may receive your IP address and browser details under Google’s privacy policy.
How we use information
- To deliver the text or files to the person who has the code.
- To enforce size, file-type, and daily upload limits, and to block abuse.
- To delete transfers on schedule and keep the service working.
We do not sell personal information. We do not use your files or messages for advertising.
Sharing
Anyone who has the 6-digit code can retrieve the transfer until it is deleted. If you set a password, they also need that password to open an encrypted ZIP. Share the code and password only with the intended recipient.
The service is hosted on servers that process this data in order to provide the transfer. We do not give your content to other companies for their own marketing.
Security
Transfers are sent over HTTPS. You can add a password so the ZIP is encrypted. Some file types that are commonly used to distribute programs are blocked. These measures reduce risk. They do not make any internet transfer risk-free.
Your choices and rights
You choose what to upload. Do not send information you are not willing to place on the service for the short time described above. Because transfers are deleted automatically, there is usually nothing left to access or erase after delivery or expiration.
If the GDPR or a similar law applies to you, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Most transfer data is already gone within minutes. Upload-count records are removed within 7 days.
Children
File Secure Transfer is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date. The rules for using the service are in the Terms of Use.
