Agreement
These terms apply when you use File Secure Transfer at filesecuretransfer.com. By sending or receiving a transfer, you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
The service
File Secure Transfer lets you send a text message, files, or both. You receive a 6-digit code. The recipient enters that code to view the text and, if you included files, download them as a ZIP. Transfers are temporary. They are deleted after delivery, or about 10 minutes after creation if nobody retrieves them.
The service is provided as available. It may be interrupted, changed, or stopped. A code can fail if the transfer expired, was already retrieved, or the service was restarted.
Limits
- Total size of one transfer is 1GB.
- Each address may create up to 25 transfers per day.
- A code works once.
- Unretrieved transfers expire after about 10 minutes.
- Some file types, including programs and scripts, are not accepted.
- A password, if you set one, must be 4 to 100 characters.
Your responsibilities
- You must have the right to send the text and files you upload.
- You are responsible for sharing the code, and any password, only with the intended recipient.
- Anyone with the code can retrieve the transfer until it is deleted. A password protects the ZIP only if you set one and the recipient has it.
- Check that the recipient received the transfer before the code expires. We cannot restore a deleted transfer.
- Do not rely on the service as your only copy of important files.
Acceptable use
You may not use the service to:
- Break the law or violate someone else’s rights, including copyright, privacy, or confidentiality.
- Send malware, or content meant to harm, deceive, or gain unauthorized access to a system or account.
- Harass, threaten, or exploit another person.
- Send content that sexually exploits a minor.
- Overload, probe, or interfere with the service, or try to bypass its limits.
- Resell or present the service as your own product.
We may refuse, delete, or block a transfer that breaks these terms or that we believe creates a security or legal risk. We may also limit access to protect the service.
Your content and our site
You keep your rights in the text and files you send. You give us permission to store, encrypt, transmit, and delete that content only as needed to run the transfer and as described in the Privacy Policy.
The File Secure Transfer name, logo, and site design belong to the operator of the service. You may not copy them for your own product.
Disclaimer
The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not promise that a transfer will be delivered, that the site will be error-free, or that encryption, deletion, or blocking of file types will meet every security need. You use the service at your own risk.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operator of File Secure Transfer is not liable for lost files, lost messages, failed deliveries, unauthorized access by someone who obtained a code, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the service. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid to use the service. The service is free, so that amount is zero, except where the law requires otherwise.
Changes
We may update these terms by posting a new version on this page. The “Last updated” date will change. Continued use after an update means you accept the new terms.
